Training, the easy way

Getting ready for a long distance cycle event is hard work. It takes weeks of training, lots of time in the saddle which can be hard to fit into our normal busy lives and can get rather boring, especially if you cycle alone or are always sticking to one route.

This is where group cycle events can really help. According to the experts “Riding in a group can save you between 15 and 40 percent of your effort over going it alone…” and not only this, when you’re legs start to go to jelly and your a long way from your destination you’ll be glad of a few encouraging words and support.

So, with this in mind, I’ve been hunting around to find a selection of the best organised cycle rides in South East England. You can see the results of my endeavor here on our training page: Organised Rides

If you know of any others that we should be aware of then please get in contact. The more of these events we can go on, the better.

As for the ones listed, who’s in?

London to Amsterdam Training Plan

I am pleased to have published the training plan for the London to Amsterdam bike ride.

I spent quite a bit of time in preparation for last years bike ride, reading through a few recommended long distance cycle books as well as cycling forums etc and came up with a basic training guide which I personally found to be of great help. I have adapted this to increase the training period to meet this years Amsterdam cycle ride timeline.

It is meant to serve as a rough guide to help stay focused for the task ahead. I have not included any information on the intensity of training or speed, just time and distance. Please feel free to add suggestions on this.

I hope that it is of assistance to you in your own individual training: London to Amsterdam Training Plan.
