As some of you may know, I work in the travel business so I have put my skills to best practice and had a quick look at hotel options and costs for the London to Amsterdam bike ride. Please see below the suggestions and rough quotes.

(1). Dover – Premier Inn (Eastern Ferry Terminal) – £ 69.00 per Twin Room/Double And Includes Taxes

(2). Brugge – Apollo Arthotel – EUR 79.00 per Twin Room/Double And Includes Taxes

(3). Antwerp – Hotel Antwerp Billard Palace – EUR 59.00 Per Twin Room/Double And Includes Taxes

(4). Rotterdam – EuroHotel Centrum Rotterdam – EUR 75.00 per Twin Room/Double And includes Taxes

(5). Amsterdam – Park Plaza Victoria – EUR 139.00 Per Twin/Double And Includes Taxes (May Be An Extra 5% City Tax)

I hope this of help and availability is pretty tight in Brugge and Rotterdam and may be a good idea that we start booking rooms up as can only get more expensive.

What we can do is reserve the room, with just a credit card number, to avoid loosing the room for now. There is no charge is we decide to cancel the hotel at some point over the next couple of months. Although, for the hotels we are already sure about, then booking and paying in advance may well get us a slightly better rate.

What do you all think? Do you like the hotels? Are the rates ok?

You may want to check the eden rembrandt square hotel (think that is its name). When I last stayed there it was running special rates of around 60-70 euro’s per night. Not bad for a 4 star hotel well away from the red light district.
Showing rooms at 116 euros at the moment. But I’ll keep an eye on it for any other special deals.

Sanjay, a big thanks from me for looking into this and so quickly too.

I have looked through the suggestions and like them all. I am concerned a little about the high overall cost but considering the places we are travelling through, then that’s unavoidable in some ways.

Now there are some other options which I have been looking into, which are guest houses and hostels. The costs can be quite a bit lower and many are very central to town centres.

I am happy to look into this for us but before I do I’d like to get an idea of who would be sharing with who. Some hostels have dormitory rooms where 4-6-8 people can share the room. This is certainly an option to keep costs low.

Apple and I will share a room together separately as Apple is the only female on the trip (at the moment!) but what are your sleeping preferences?

Who doesn’t mind staying in a dorm? Who definitely wants single / twin rooms? Who are you happy to share with?

If you can all let me know soon then I’ll look into it.

I’m certainly up for a more luxurious option in Amsterdam – think were gonna need a bit of pampering after all that cycling.

Luke, that Eden Rembrandt Square Hotel looks like a really nice place. And looking here, it has currently got rooms for just 80 Euros (£70) a night:
